Marvo covered Hot Pockets SideShots Mini Cheeseburgers back in January, and now I’m here to tell you about the other SideShots: Sloppy Joes.

If you’re anything like me, and most people in this country probably are, the majority of your sloppy joe experiences have come from a pound of ground beef, a can of Manwich, and some cheap generic hamburger buns. In other words, you were a poor college student or a stoner. Or both.

I haven’t had sloppy joes in at least a few years, but I remember them being messy and guiltily tasty. As your bun falls apart two seconds after you ladle on the Manwich mixture and your face and hands get covered in tangy tomato sauce, you get the feeling that you are a little too old for eating something this cheap and messy. Messy ribs at a great barbecue joint? Acceptable. Messy $1 can of tomato mix? Unacceptable. Growing up sucks.

According to the official SideShots website, “Thanks to the mini soft-baked bun, Sloppy Joes no longer requires [sic] a fork for spillage.” Bad grammar aside, perhaps Hot Pockets has come up with a solution for us adults to enjoy sloppy joes without the sloppy. Microwaving two SideShots only takes a minute and 45 seconds, perfect for a rushed lunch at the office. Of course, there’s still the fact that you’re eating Hot Pockets. I don’t know if you noticed, but all the other grown-ups brought Lean Cuisines. You better hope they don’t find out about your adult Underoos.

Let’s face it, we all know that you need to take in at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables but most of us simply cannot find the time. So you sooth your conscience by eating half a apple whenever you get the opportunity to do and promise yourself that from tomorrow you will start eating you 5 servings of fruit and vegetables only to find yourself with a single apple in your hand again.

Why is it so difficult to eat those 5 servings a day? It is because most of us are under the impression that we have to buy fresh fruit and
vegetables which take time to go to the market and pick out and people tend to believe that fresh fruit and vegetables are just too expensive. The good news is that fruit and vegetables are in actual fact quite cheap and if you simply cannot find the time to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, why not get the canned variety? By using your fruit and vegetables to make delicious and nutritious snacks you will get your 5 servings a day in no time.

Here Are a Couple of Snack Ideas:

* Cut your vegetables into strips or cubes and eat them with a low fat dip of your choice. This is lovely snack on those hot summer days.

* Using your juicer, make a fresh fruit juice. You can even freeze the juice in your ice trays as an alternative to ice cream.

* Make a fruit parfait by layering vanilla yogurt, granola and some berries.

* For a nutritious alternative to eating a candy bar rather eat strawberries covered in dark chocolate.

* You can freeze seedless grapes and eat them like you would a Popsicle.

* Make a fruit and yogurt smoothie.

* Cut up some fresh fruit and eat them with yogurt as a dip.

* Instead of fresh fruit why not make a mix of dried fruit and nuts as a snack alternative.

* Cut apples served with slices of cheese makes for a delicious snack.

* Instead of the normal dip, try eating celery with peanut butter as a dip.

* Make rice crackers with cream cheese, sliced tomato and avocado.

To make sure that you get your portions right for your fruit and vegetable snacks, follow the below guidelines on exactly how much is one portion of fruit and vegetables which will make getting you 5 portions a day:

One Portion of Fruit and Vegetables Equals:

* 1/2 a avocado or grapefruit

* 3 heaped tablespoons (about 65ml) of stewed fruit or fruit salad

* 2 Kiwis, plums or similar sized fruits

* 1 Banana, apple, orange or similar sized fruits

* 1 Large slice of pineapple or melon

* A cup (250ml) of berries, cherries or grapes

* 150ml Fruit juice with no sugar added

* 1 Heaped tablespoon (about 20ml) of sultanas or raisins

* 3 heaped tablespoons (about 65ml) of beans, vegetables or pulses

* 1 Dessert bowl with salad

Nutritional supplement is a product that provides additional nutrients when people don’t get enough of them through food. Nutritional supplement increases the intake of vitamins, amino acids, minerals, herbs, etc. It gives you everything you need to quench the thirst of average daily intake of nutrient. Nutritional supplements are available in different shapes and sizes – many nutritional supplements can make a huge difference in your life. Nutritional supplements are exactly what they imply; they are the vitamins and minerals and other nutrients that your body needs to be healthy. Here are some information on nutritional supplements and what they are used for.

First of all, supplements help you to overcome nutritional deficiencies. We need all the nutrients in the proper amounts in order to have an optimum health. Since our diets can not provide all of them, nutritional supplements can fill in those gaps. Nutritional supplements also help to boost our immune system. The stronger your immune system, the more resistant your body can be against disease. You probably know that popping a tablet or two of Vitamin C can help you avoid cold and related illness. This is exactly how useful supplementation is.

Nutritional supplements also enhance and complement our activities, such as workout regimes etc… Our body needs more than just vitamins and minerals. There are various nutritional health supplements offering a wide spectrum of essential nutrients. There are plenty of high quality multi-vitamins available on the market that offers a comprehensive range of vitamins and minerals. Nutritional supplements represent a support to our body. The nutritional supplements clean the human body and restore the deficiencies present inside. While taken constantly, nutritional supplements promote good health and help prevent diseases. Nutritional supplements represent a good thing that we need. It is best to satisfy the body’s vitamin and mineral needs with a healthy diet.

Your body requires certain quantities of nutrients, minerals and vitamins each day to function at its peak. They are all present in fresh produce, fruit, vegetables or herbs and spices. In order to ensure that you get all the required nutrients for your body on a daily basis, you need to consume a variety of fresh produce because they contains different nutrients and only a combination can provide you with all the nutrients you need.

Fruits and vegetables can protect the body from such major diseases as cancer and heart disease. Some are high in substances called anti-oxidants, such as beta carotene, Vitamins C and E and selenium, which are nutrients that protect cell membranes from the damage of free radicals. Fresh juices are a perfect nature food. They are far more potent than the isolated nutrients found in vitamin pills. Nutrients influence each other and, therefore, they should not be separated.

You’ve been trying and trying to become pregnant and now it’s finally happened. You’re pregnant. Excitement hits at you, and you suddenly can’t wait to get back home and tell everyone the good news. Naturally enough you’re on the phone the minute you enter your house. You’ve kicked off your high heeled shoes because that can give you a bad back, and worse you might fall, so you decide to donate them to charity. Even as you talk a number of things are running through your head and your pregnancy nutrition is uppermost in your mind.

What can you eat? You know that some things are bad for your growing baby like alcohol and cigarettes, but what about other things. Will you have to cut back on coffee and tea entirely to take the caffeine out of your diet, or will you be able to get by with the first reviving sip of coffee early in the morning.

A thought strikes you, will you even be able to hold down a gulp a coffee? You remember how ill your best friend was in the early stages of her pregnancy nutrition matters fly right out of your head at this rather dire thought. No coffee for a whole nine months? What about when the baby is born, will you be able to have any then if you’re breast feeding?

And what about all those lovely prawn cocktails, and that perfectly gorgeous lobster in cream sauce that you adore so much? Would you have to go without all that for such a long time? You furiously start scribbling notes to yourself to be able to ask the doctor the next time you see him.

Your next call naturally enough is to your mother who has been through all this twice before and can help to guide you through the murky waters which the whole pregnancy nutrition question put into your head.

Finally you’re done, all your calls are made, your mother has reassured you on many points, and now you can just sit back, relax and bask in the glow that you’re finally pregnant. Your thoughts rush ahead to the future and you slip into a more comfortable chair. Your first impulse to grab a glass of wine is quelled. You have other things to consider now, pregnancy nutrition and what you can possibly prepare for dinner to celebrate such a special occasion.

The next time you run by your doctor’s office you get yourself sorted on all those questions that had been bothering you ever since you first learned you were pregnant (and the list is by now considerably long!). You smile in pleasure and just before you head out the door your doctor hands you a small booklet. It’s called “Pregnancy Nutrition and You”. Your smile grows wider and you head out the door with a singing heart and a light step.
